Welcome to Blackwell Academy
The Transitional Program was developed in 1985-1986 to serve classified students in the high school who were at high risk for dropping out of school. Generally these were students who were returning from out of district placements or students at Dover High School who showed a pattern of poor attendance, failing grades, and frequent disciplinary problems. As the Transitional Program evolved, an additional need became apparent. Although the program had been started to address the needs of potential dropouts in the high school, it became clear that earlier intervention was needed. Accordingly, in 1988-89, the program's fourth year, a second class was started which would enable the program to take students in grades 7 and 8. This page was last updated on 02/15/02
